Whats that saying again?
"The best monks are the ones you never notice."
Paying anyone to do just about anything in this game is stupid.

So anyone that has ever bought a run/a mission being soloed for them/an item that was nearly impossible to farm for them is stupid?
While I do often go redo missions for fun with pug's (I have both protector titles). The idea of them paying me to monk even as a tip for keeping the group alive seems alittle strange, of course i wouldn't turn it down (it's time i could of spent farming for greens).
Of course if i threw my services up on the auction site it's exactly the same as charging for you to monk ingame. Nobody would complain at all if i did that, would they?

If they want to pay and you want to do it for money then what's the problem?
You don't have anything to do at all with a party paying their monk for healing them, you're not involved!
And if you're in a party and a monk that requires pay joins just leave yourself or kick the monk. Nobody is forcing you to pay.
Now if I want to spend my own in-game money, for wich I spend my own time getting it, to pay a monk to heal me then let me! It's my money and time, not yours. And calling me stupid for doing that serves no purpose at all except for picking fights and getting attention.
And if it ever gets so bad that all monks want 1k for healing a mission then just create a monk yourself just like many others will do to profit from it. After a short while there will be so many monks that prices will drop and it will be no longer worth it. Simple economics. A free market rebalances itself.
Though I personally find it to be quite counter-effective to ask money for a party, you will only get less parties = less loot in total = less money in total. But if someone wants to get payed for it then please, by all means, let them.
No need to call anyone stupid.

Gobla has the right idea here.
And one thing a lot of people seem to forget is, time = money. Let's say you charge 1k to monk for a PuG doing a mission. I know many people would pay that, because in the 15-20 minutes they'd have to wait for a free monk, they could easily farm 2-3 times as much gold on a different character. Paying for the monk is actually more economical when you factor in time. Of course, this implies that monks are in shortage, which won't necessarily be the case now that heroes are out. I don't charge for monking, but I certainly wouldn't blame someone for being an entrepreneur.

omg wth r u saying monks r t3h bestest u wil pay
I don't taking money for services because it means I'm obligated to stay. I always reserve the right to ragequit, and you can't do that if you're being paid.

Well, depends on whether they pay in advance or at some time during/after the mission.

A Monk on his own isn't going to get anywhere. What about the tank who takes the hits, and does the damage? Is he looking to be paid, even if his build is 34.7 times better than your average Whammo?
As someone who likes Monking, I think it's kind of sad that people are demanding money just to play a game together.

i assume those that still play in other campaigns dont have heroes for now. they either lack of NF as game, or the char simply doesnt have heroes, because it does require work in NF.

if u say it today, then the NF skills one required, any one could have em who had NF. i still play in other campaigns by the way. i got nf. I do not think that out of 7 people, i was the only guy with NF in the group ^_^.
and by the way, when i compared the build with u ^_^, we both had either a monk with us, or were a monk. ur better since ur human, and i had a hero
Works for me. The point is, u dont need a human monk in nahpui if u know what ur doing.

I would never charge for monking
I play fairly casually and dont have a clue about this "farming" business, i have made maybe 20000 gold so far in the game, on my monk that has done most of NF and several missions in prophecies, so the "teaming costs me money" concept doesnt cater to me really
I generally just go with my heroes though, while ive never had any of those horrible groups most of the time when i group its like running with heroes anyways, not a word being said and everyone has quit the team by the time ive watched the mission video

I was in the Gates Of Madness mission with Lifes Infusion in my Party and we heard this Monk advertise their services for 50K.That is outrageous and this will definitely give Monks a bad name.I still don't like Monking for Money though although most groups need it but the payment method would have to be right unlike running.

Sooo I finished Vizunah Square and ended up in Dragon's Throat for the first time. Didn't really want to do a challenge mission so I just decided to do the primary quest. While I'm there I have like five groups trying to get me to monk for them, but kept telling everyone "Sorry, just doing quests." So I guess one group really needed a monk badly and offered to pay me. Guess what I did?
I said "I'll just do it for free, if you need a monk that badly."
I really think it's sad that people will offer to pay monks to join groups just because there are so few hanging around. So if someone offers to pay me, I'll just quit what I'm doing and go for free. There is no need for someone to spend their hard earned gold on my services (or anyone else's really, unless they want a run, etc. etc.)
This is not to say that if a group is willing to pay and a monk wants to accept payment that it is wrong...but it IS wrong for a monk to ask for payment. So I will continue joining groups for free because it is so against my grain to charge or accept payment for something I love doing (at least in game...I love my job but I'd quit in a flash if they stopped paying me.)

I'd never ask for gold for monking. Though I do go to places where monks are badly needed and just stand around. Oh how the people moan when the only monk is just standing still.

Some of you need to put down the cross and realize that your time is valuable. If there are no other monks around and people are offering money, take it! Or don't. But don't feel obligated to help people for free just because you're the only monk. Why would you feel obligated to do something you don't want to do, in a game no less, simply because you're a monk?
People keep saying that others shouldn't have to pay for a monk's help, but why should the monk have to pay (in time wasted) just for others' benefit? You guys sell yourselves short.
